Using Adobe After
Effects, I created this "music video" of found
footage to the song "TRU
U" by Ada Rook. The bulk of the footage was
found on the Internet
Archive, but some clips are pieces from other
works, like "Fine, I'll do it Myself" by Claye
Bowler.
The song itself touches on the current state of the LGBTQ+ community, and how Rook feels
like she doesn't quite fit into that
group/feels alienated from the group. While I share these feelings, I also wanted to push
my personal feelings further and my
experiences as a person in the LGBTQ+
community. I find the nature of queer bodies to be fascinating, especially as a transgender man who struggles with his own body
appearance. I also classify myself as
"hypersexual", which only amplifies my
interest in queer bodies. I combined these two elements (the body and hypersexuality) into
various visuals throughout this piece.

Experimental video taken in only one shot. This piece demonstrates that it's easy for
transgender people to
get ready everyday
because of influential
transgender activists in the past. An example
can be Sylvia Rivera,
whose speech was used as audio for this piece.

Final project
performance video. With
the artist being the
main focus of this
video, outside forces
interact with them to
simulate what society
wants to do to them for
being a transgender man. From being born a girl, society is trying to
revert the artist back
to that forcefully.
